IP Test Lab UK

Ingress Protection (IP) testing is used to assess the ability of an enclosure to provide protection to the internals of a product when subjected to solids and liquids.

IP Test Lab UK

The IP code consists of a 2 digit code, where the first digit ranges from 0 – 6 (degree of protection against access to hazardous parts & solid foreign objects) and the second digit ranges from 0 – 9 (degree of protection against water).

The two digits in an IP code are completely independent of each other and the relevant industry will stipulate the required code for the product under test:

Some of the environmental test standards that we test in accordance with are:

  • IP1x to IP6x BS EN 60529: Degrees of Protection Provided by Enclosures
  • IPx1 to IPx8 BS EN 60529: Degrees of Protection Provided by Enclosures
  • IP1x to IP6Kx BS ISO 20653: Road Vehicles Degrees of Protection
  • IPx1 to IPx9K BS ISO 20653: Road Vehicles Degrees of Protection

This is not an exclusive list; so if you have requirements to other test standards, please contact us and we will confirm if we can provide a UKAS accredited test to meet your requirements.
